BL!NDMAN plays BL!NDMAN

Sleichim's iconic saxophone compositions
[sax]

In BL!NDMAN plays BL!NDMAN, BL!NDMAN [sax] returns to the early work of their founder Eric Sleichim. They play a collection of works where Sleichim explores the boundaries of how a saxophone can sound with open ears and rebellious skill. Non-conventional techniques such as the use of screeching springs, thuds and smacks and sounds of valves alternate with the instrument’s tonal qualities. The selection is inspired by well-known editions of POORTENBOS and Antonyms, the latter of which saw Eric Sleichim dialogue with such world-renowned jazz artists as Steve Lacy, Roy Nathanson and Ned Rothenberg. It inspires the saxophone quartet to tread the path of improvisation itself, colored with a classical music edge.
