BEETHOVEN / REICH / SCHUBERT
Rediscover the classic string quartets in a contemporary guise, performed by BL!NDMAN [strings] and Eric Sleichim.
By default, BL!NDMAN [strings] plays Steve Reich’s virtuoso Triple Quartet, this time supplemented by works by Beethoven and Schubert. In 2001, Reich extended the interplay of an instrument with himself to the string quartet. In his Triple Quartet, he combines three string quartets as if they were three instruments. Both within each quartet and between the three quartets, we discern the rhythmic drive and tension so typical of the New York composer’s oeuvre. For the live performance, BL!NDMAN [strings] previously recorded two of the three quartets.
In the live version, you will hear these recordings and one live quartet.
